California and US privacy rights
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as
amended by the CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete
personal information we hold (subject to exceptions), the right to correct inaccurate information, and the
right to opt out of certain uses of personal information that qualify as “sale” or “sharing” under California
law. We do not sell your personal information for money. Depending on how we configure analytics, certain
advertising-related uses may be treated as “sharing” under California law; you can use the
Global Privacy Control signal in a supported browser (we treat it as a request to opt out of
analytics on this site) or contact us below.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To submit a request, email
privacy@mcpvscli.com. We may need to verify your request before
processing it.
Analytics and cookies
Google Analytics 4 may load only if you opt in through our on-site banner (unless you have
previously declined). Analytics helps us understand aggregate traffic and feature usage. Google’s privacy
information is available at
policies.google.com/privacy.
You can change your choice anytime via Analytics choices in the site footer (clears the
stored preference and reloads the page).
Categories of information we collect
-
Identifiers: email address (if you sign up for reminders or apply to speak); vote session
cookie (random token, not your name).
-
Internet or network activity: optional GA4 events if you opt in; page views counted on our
servers for an aggregate “public views” statistic.
-
User-generated content: team choice, reason selection, optional vote comment, speaker
application text, GitHub URL, X profile URL, and community take submissions (X handle and post URL).
-
Abuse prevention: hashed IP address stored with your vote (not the raw IP).
Purposes and sources
-
We collect information directly from you when you vote, subscribe to reminders, submit a speaker application,
or submit a community take (X handle and post link).
- We use service providers (below) to operate the site, send email, prevent abuse, and (if you opt in) measure traffic.
- We use the data to run the event, communicate with you about the event, improve the experience, and protect against abuse.
Third-party services (subprocessors)
- Cloudflare (hosting, Turnstile verification, D1 database).
- Resend (transactional email, calendar attachments).
- Google Analytics 4 (optional analytics if you opt in).
Retention
We keep vote records, signup and application rows, community take submissions, and aggregate counters for as
long as needed to operate the
event and honor legal obligations, typically up to twenty-four (24) months after the event date,
unless a longer period is required by law or to resolve disputes. Hashed IP data is retained with the vote
record for the same period. We may delete data sooner when you ask us to remove reminder or application
information, subject to limited retention for security logs or legal compliance.
Email
If you request event reminders or submit a speaker application, we send email through Resend to you.
Community take submissions trigger an internal notification email to our events inbox (for example
takes@mcpvscli.com) so we can review posts for possible features; that
message is not a marketing email to you. Reminder and application messages include identification of the
sender and instructions to opt out (reply “unsubscribe” or email
privacy@mcpvscli.com). Signing up for reminders requires checking the
consent box on the form.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact
privacy@mcpvscli.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Editorial content, imagery, and takedown requests
Names, links, quotes, images, and commentary may appear for editorial, discussion, or curation. Unless
explicitly stated, featured individuals and organizations are not affiliated with or endorsing this site or
event. If you believe content misuses your name, likeness, or rights, email
privacy@mcpvscli.com with enough detail for us to locate the material;
we will review good-faith requests promptly.
MCP, CLI, and third parties
MCP vs CLI is independent and is not sponsored, endorsed, or affiliated with the Model Context
Protocol specification, Anthropic, OpenAI, or their affiliates. References to “MCP” or “CLI” are for developer
tooling discussion only.
International visitors
We are based in the United States. If you access the site from elsewhere, your information may be processed in
the US where privacy laws may differ. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards described by our
service providers.
